英語讀后感 篇4
The novel is rich in poetry, symbolism and metaphor. It does not fit easily into a definite pattern, being neither a novel of "manners" in the tradition of Austen, or a straightforward Gothic Romance in the style of Mrs Radcliffe. What Charlotte Bronte did was to create a work which cleverly blends elements of the two styles, and which remains uniquely independent of them at the same time, since it addresses issues which were at the time rather controversial.
The novel is written in the first person, and thus magnifies the central character - the reader enters the world of Jane Eyre and is transported through her experiences at first hand. This at once makes the work subjective, especially since we know that Charlottes Brontes own life and experiences were so closely interwoven with the heroine's. As well as this we learn only at the end of the novel that the events are being related to us ten years after the reconciliation with Rochester - thus the narrative is RETROSPECTIVE (looking back)。 CB is clever in blending the narrative so that at times Jane seems to be speaking as an adult with adult hindsight , while at others she she is "in the middle" of them, as a child or young woman. The indecision which is a central issue in the book, is heightened by this device. We never know, as readers, whether to be entirely trustful of Janes actions and thoughts, because we are never sure wheher she is speaking impulsively or maturely.
This intensifies the readers dilemma as to what is "right" and "wrong" in the dramatic relationships which are part of JE's life. Can we believe what the heroine says, or is she deceiving herself? The novel is primarily a love story and a "romance" where wishes come true but only after trials and suffering. The supernatural has its place, as do dreams, portents and prophesies. The heroine begins poor and lonely and ends up rich and loved; the orphan finds a good family to replace the wicked one; all the basic ingredients of classic romantic fairytale are present.
The romantic element is present in two forms in Jane Eyre; the "family" aspect is dealt with in the Gateshead, Lowood and Moor House episodes, which involve the exchanging of the wicked Reed family for the benevolent Rivers one; and the Love romance is dealt with in the Thornfield and Ferndean episodes. Both aspects are, of course linked and interwoven throughout the novel.

Learn to love and care here i am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what i have just finished reading with tears of sadnefilling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishneof the secular world for a long time. it is truly what i felt after reading oliver twist, written by the prominent british author charles dickens.
the resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindneand the wickedneof all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what i lack deep inside. these supreme resources i’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. they’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care.
those charitable figures whom dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. they showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.
英語讀后感 篇6
Jane eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. after we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, jane eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:
we remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.
we remember her pursuit of justice. it’s like a companion with the goodness. but still, a virtuous person should promote the goodneon one side and must check the badneon the other side.
we remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. in her opinion, everyone is the same at the god’s feet. though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.
we also remember her striving for life, her toughneand her confidence…
when we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.
her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.
this is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. the story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.
it seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with jane eyer. i am of no exception. as we refer to the movie “jane eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.
jane eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. since jane’s education in lowwood orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. the suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.as a reward of revolting the ruthleoppression, jane got a chance to be a tutor in thornfield garden. there she

Vivid Heroine
——On Sister Carrie
Carrie was such an ordinary rural girl at the beginning of the story. Sitting on the seat of a bus, she couldn’t help feeling exciting at the sight of the metropolis’ spectacle. She was impressed deeply by large crowd on the avenue, the spacious square or tall buildings.
Far more different from other heroines, Carrie was not a plain pure angel like Snow-white, nor was she brave enough to be a heroine of revolutionist or even a reformer, nor was she so clever as to be a successful career woman who start from scratch.
What attracted her most, after her entering this huge metropolis was the incredible fineries, fashion shoes, smart handbags displaying in the shop windows, the jewellerys shining brightly behind the glass. She dreamed that one day, she could wear all of these, jogging gracefully into the most luxurious hotel with focused sights of admiration.
And this was not merely a dream. Because she had large eyes which can earn others’ sympathy, even love. She had wonderful figure which can win others’ hearts. However, anything she got, anywhere she reached, had not come from her ambition. Things happened, and then she accepted. That’s what she had just done — just to accept willingly from the bottom of her heart. She was not at all an evil woman who would give anything for the fortune or fame. However, she would give uo something for a better life when her instinct defeated her intellect.
That was Carrie, a girl had her own desire, a human being just like many others in the realistic world.
There’s one sentence written in chapter VIII:” When this jangle of free-will instinct shall have been adjusted, when perfect understanding has given the former the power to replace the latter entirely, man will no longer vary.” However, how many people can go that further.
And I want to quote another sentence to wind up my essay:
“In Carrie — as in how many of our wordings do they not? — instinct and reason, desire and understanding, were at war for the mastery.”

英語讀后感 篇8
Book report on ‘Jane Eyre’
Jane Eyre, one of the most famous works of Charlotte Bronte’s, is an inspiring story about a miserable girl who pursue freedom, independence and true love. The story of the independent minded Jane and her love affair with Mr. Rochester opened up new dimensions for women both as writer and generations of feminists. Jane Eyre, the tough girl, really impresses me very much.
One of Jane’s impressive and admiring personalities is her self-respect. She wasn’t beautiful, and the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease. But as Jane had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of self-respect in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of self-respect impresses me so much and let me feel the power inside her body.
The other gorgeous personality I value very much is her selfless love. After leaving Thornfield with a broken heart, Jane experienced quite a lot. She refused the proposal of St. John, a handsome priest who helped her a lot when she was starving. Later, Jane inherited a wealth of fortune from her uncle which she shared with her three cousins. But when hearing that Mr. Rochester had lost his eyesight and made his body serious injured while saving his mad wife in a conflagration during which his wife died and all his property was destroyed, Jane returned to Thornfield immediately and devoted her love to Mr. Rochester. What a great decision for her to go back! If I were Jane, I couldn’t promise to get married with Mr. Rochester who is in such a terrible situation. However, Jane did with all her heart!
I like the novel very much, especially the character ‘Jane Eyre’ who is a great woman in my mind. Jane makes me realize the importance of self-respect and understand what the true love is. In this sophisticated society, we may not avoid being contaminated, but we can remind ourselves of Jane Eyre and try to be an independent and strong-minded person who treasures self-esteem and true love.

英語讀后感 篇10
The essence of the path is that it is contrary to the highway and has no definite destination. But this does not mean that it does not lead to any direction. It does not mean that all walks of life will be lost in all cases. On the contrary. The stroll I mentioned earlier is an exploration, a slow discovery, the only way to really know mountains. In other words, fictions in the form of variation are not closely connected to each other and the feature of "music fragments" is the only way to stealth the various parts of the novel and to limit the true meaning of the theme, and to respect their coherent forms and rhythms. Of course, at the end of all the paths or paths that make us all over the mountains - they make up a broader view, and some of the pictures are more direct and more intense.
In the immortality, the theme of the pastoral song appears once again in the work, but it is worth noting that the theme is quite different from the previous one. First, the political Utopia of the positive idyllic pastoral means and the image of the utopian Utopian no longer have the same complete tendencies; it continues to exist in Paul's thinking, through his memory of the 1968 "May storm", but this is a dead reference, and we can even say that it is a positive idyllic. The corpse of the pastoral song. Here, we are completely in the world after ideology, which transcends history.
We have been away from the desert pursued by Yang wick and Thomas. To "return" to self is no longer to escape to the peace and edge that can be released to self, no longer to leave the stage, away from the crowd, to avoid the harm of the crowd to us; to return to self should come to the market and display me in all eyes. Because it is a world of pastoral pastoral, in the final analysis, the modern self world is still a totalitarian world - in a sense, even more harmful than the other types of pastoral songs, because there is no foundation outside the world, and no one can do it for itself. The inevitability of "transcendence". This is a totalitarian power at the end of history.
Kundla's writing style and language expression are still worth learning. Forget the philosopher saying that life is philosophy. There is a reasonable existence. Then everyone exists, which means that its philosophy is reasonable, each person has its own way of life and way of thinking, and according to these modes of thinking to live, is the individual's own philosophy. Every character in Kundla's pen is a different philosophy. The name of each chapter metaphores a theme of thinking. "Face" means self. "Immortality" means fame and fame. "Struggle" means Agnes and Luo, "emotional man" means perceptual, "chance" is associated with "bell", "celebration" is the most. The end of the end? I can't be sure to say it is, and it would be a different idea to read later, but the same thing is that Kundla has always led the reader into thinking, no answer.
英語讀后感 篇11
The poor is the work of Lev, Tolstoy, a famous Russian writer. At that time, the Russian working people were living in extreme poverty under the dark rule of the tsar, but they were kind hearted and noble minded. The text recounts the fisherman and her wife, SANA, who care and sympathize with the neighbor Simon. After Simon's death, the story of her two orphans is adopted, reflecting the pure and simple compassion of the poor and the noble quality of helping others. Through the life of the Sanna family, the author reflects the miserable life of the poor people during that period and their perfect mind.
The fisherman's family was very poor, and their days were very tight. But when the wife of the fisherman saw his neighbour Simon's death, and the sad and moving picture of the two children who were not sensible, he did not hesitate to take them home. After a series of psychological struggles, fishermen and Sanna firmly believe that no matter how hard they are, they should bring up these two children.
In this text, the deepest part of the text is: her head is back, the cold, green face shows the death of the quiet, a pale stiff hand that wants to catch what, hanging from the straw. Next to the dead mother, two small children were asleep, with curly hair, a round face, old clothes covered with old clothes, a curly body, and two small heads of light yellow hair close together. Apparently, when the mother was dying, she put her clothes on them and hugged their little feet with their old scarves. The child's breathing is even and calm, and the sleeping is sweet. From this startling description of the situation, I realized the poverty and misery of countless working people in the Tsarist era, and I also realized the great mother's love and the two children who were worried about the death of Simon.
What impressed me most is the description of Sanna's words: it's heartbeat badly, do not understand why, but I think it should be done. When SANA saw that two poor children were not raised by their mother, they would rather starve themselves or let Simon's two orphans starve to death, which fully demonstrated the kindhearted nature of Sonna. One of the words of the fisherman moved me out: "we have to take them and how to stay with the dead! Oh, we, we can always stay up!" this sentence is so firm, although the fisherman thought about his own days, but also insisted on raising the two orphans of Simon, showing the quality of the fisherman's help and the courage to respond. Although these words are made up of several simple words, they can reflect their good nature.
Reading this story, I think we should learn the poor, not greedy, selfish, more contented, more to share with others, and if we can have a noble, kind and compassionate heart, our life is plain but also very happy. On the contrary, if selfishness and greed are the same as stupid rich people.
英語讀后感 篇12
"Great Expectations" has been considered to be one of Charles Dickens’ most mature and relatively late works. Having experienced a wealth of human life, Dickens got a profound understanding of human-being, the surrounding environment and his life experiences while all his mature thinking and understanding were summarized into the book "Great Expectations".
The original meaning of the work’s title in fact is a heritage, but when it was translated into Chinese it gave me an impression that the title shows the hero of the story had Great Expectations. However, reading over the book I realized that this "Great Expectations" takes an ironic band——it should be said that the theme of this work not only told the story of orphan Pip who wanted to be the ideal first-class disillusionment. If one does think so, he holds a wrong understanding of the great significance why Dickens creative the work.
The hero Pip lived with his sister’s family. Though their life was hard, Pip didn’t wish to be a first-class person his vision was to be a blacksmith like his brother-in-law, his sister’s husband. The reason why he changed his mind and was eager to be a first-class person later was the changing of environment——he met Miss Harvisham, Estella and some other complex people. As we know one of Dickens's philosophy thoughts is environment takes a deep impact to humans’ ideological and the story expresses his view that different environment creates different people.
In short, I think the work was not arbitrarily written, but was based on the 10 works before aggregating Dickens’ thoughts. What is more, Dickens had put his outlook on life, his views of philosophy and ethics into the great creation.
英語讀后感 篇13
With so many famous masterpieces on the booklist, it is really a pretty hard job to choose one to read first. After much hesitation and deeply thought, I finally decided to borrow Great Expectations from the small library.
Great Expectations is about love, family, and rejection as Pip and Miss Havisham have both been rejected in certain ways. Pip is a boy around 13 years old, easy to fright, and goes through his life suffering lots of sadness. He is in love with a girl named Estella and wants her to find his love, but for him being shy and not showing himself to her, it makes it very hard for him.
Great Expectations was the penultimate novel completed by the most popular novelist of Victorian England, Charles Dickens. Born in Kent, England, in 1812 to a family of modest means but great pretensions, Dickens’s early life was marked by both humiliation and ambition. Dickens never forgot the period of financial crisis during his childhood, when following his father’s bankruptcy, he was taken out of school and forced to work in a shoepolish warehouse.
Pip meets an escaped convict, Magwitch, and gives him food, in an encounter that is to haunt both their lives.
When Pip receives riches from a mysterious benefactor he snobbishly abandons his friends for London society and his“great expectations”。
I set up my mind to select it for the reason that I have read a brief introduction of this masterpiece in my high school English textbook before. In addition, a Tale of Two Cities which is also written by Charles Dickens, the outstanding and special English writer, left me a wonderful and deep impression, when I finished reading the marvelous story.
Of course, Great Expectations didn’t let me down, either. What’s more, the whole structure of the novel is well and elaborately designed. The plot is extremely attractive and full of unexpected twists. Quite a few characters have a distinguishable personality. Moreover, those words and sentences are so beautiful and meaningful that I even took them down carefully in my notebook. By reading them no less than three times, I have learned not only some new phrases and sentences, but also a philosophy of life.
Among the characters, which impressed me most are not Pip and Estella who should be regarded as the leading roles, but Joe and Magwitch. I feel awfully sorry that I was not brave enough to read the original edition that is as thick as a brick. Otherwise, I may appreciate Joe and Magwitch more. Yes, they are not the main characters in the novel. However, what they said and what they did deeply touched me. It’s interesting, isn’t it? They are quite the opposite guys. One is a totally good man without the least bit of wickedness while the other is a prisoner who is believed to have committed every evil.
I believe that everyone who reads the book is to like Joe. When he talked about his heavy drinking father who hit him a lot, he said he had a lot of love. Faced with his rude wife, he would rather seem a bit weak or foolish than stand up to her and fight for himself. Knowing peacockish Pip was ashamed of his uneducated manners, he left sadly and quietly. The world rushes on over the strings of the lingering heart making the music of sadness. But when he was informed of Pip’s illness, he immediately came to take good care of Pip. He is always contributing everything and requiring nothing. Such a man is Joe, kind, tolerant and selfless. "Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage, nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice," says a wise author.
However, why do I appreciate Magwitch, the bad guy? You may wonder. Indeed, Magwitch did a lot of evil things when he was young. But how can you be unmoved when you get to know that the old man kept himself going just by thinking of the boy who once did him a small favor? He lost his only daughter and Pip had no parents, so he considered himself as the boy’s second father, making up his mind to help his dear boy became a gentleman. He did every kind of job and led a hard life in Australia. At last he made a big fortune and promised himself that all the money would go to Pip. He could have led a better life in Australia ,but Ihe chose to go back to London .with the simple intention of seeing Pip, he went back at the risk of being hanged! “whatever the fault he had from the start, remember, reader, he had a good heart.” Joe used these words to describe his father. But I think these words can better describe Magwitch. He lived with the fear of death all his life. Who shuts love out, in turn shall be shut out from love. However, thankfully, because Pip finally realized his good heart, his ending was peaceful.
Dickens has Pip as the writer and first person narrator of this account of his life's experiences, and the entire story is understood to have been written as a retrospective, rather than as a present tense narrative or a diary or journal. Still, though Pip "knows" how all the events in the story will turn out, he uses only very subtle foreshadowing so that we learn of events only when the Pip in the story does. Pip does, however, use the perspective of the bitter lessons he's learned to comment acidly on various actions and attitudes in his earlier life.
I know how to fully understand this novel, twice is far from enough. Pip, Estella, Miss Havisham, Biddy even Mr Wemmick, every single character has a story that is well worth my attention. I love this novel so much that I am determined to read the original edition one day. Believe me. But before that day comes, I will see the movie Great Expectations first.
Search for knowledge, read more, sit on your front porch and admire the view without paying attention to your needs.
英語讀后感 篇14
Recently,I have just finished reading a famous novel written by Margaret mitchellGone with the Wind, which is one of the most popular works among American novels. It took the auther about 10 years to finish this great novel, the only novel in her life.
The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O"Hara,a 16-year-old girl, who was living in Tala manor in Georgia, was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes. However, after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didn’t really love---- Charles Hamilton. Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.Having e back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.Later, her second husband died in the fight, she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married him.Although Rhett had similar characteristic attracting her,Scarlett still loved Ashley.Later, their only daughter died accidently,Rhett left Scarlett sorrowly. And then Scarlett realized that Rhett was the only one who could fall in love with her.
The novel takes the US Civil War as the background. It takes Scarlett’s individual activity as the thread. The book show us a tragic love story .A couple who could have a perfect future, but finnally go in opposite direction. As a matter of fact, their charactristics have decided their tragic result inevitably. We feel sorry about the end because we are looking forward to a perfect end, just like Scarlett and Rhett. In fact, ferfect is always a excessive damand.
I affirm Rhett. He brings excitement to Scarlett’s life and encourages her impulse to change and succeed.Like Scarlett,he goes after what he wants and refuses to take ‘no’ for an answer. He is humorous, intelligent and cynical with a hint of treason. He is really a respectable man.I think he finnally left because of love .Otherwise,he couldn’t have gone without hesitation.
Ashley Wilkes is the foil to Rhett’s dark, realistic opportunism. If there was no Civil War,he is surely a nobility of grace and charm. But history cannot be changed. He bocame a victim of the war.His era was gone with the defeat of the war.At the same time,we cannot deny the fact that he had a chear understanding about reality, which just contribute to his tragedy.
In this book, what I appreciate most is not Melanie’skindness or Rheet’s dedication and patience, but Scarlett’s courage to throw her long-standing morality and tradition whe faced with diffiiculties. At the beginning of the war,she didn’t care about this.In her world are endless dinner parties and dance parties. In her body are her father’s brave Irish blood and her mother’s noble French pure blood. She had a vast farm as her home. She had hundreds of slaves. This is Scarlett.,a member of noblity, proud and different. However, the war changed everything. Her mother died of illness. Her father bee silent and the farm was nearly deserted.Even food became a big problem. All the pressure was put on Scarlett’s shoulder. She must feed a family of 9 people in it.What a big difference of level. If all this happened to someone else,he or she may choose to escape. On the contrary,Scarlett choose to face the change of life bravely. How can we not admire her courage of to change herself.Life is like a mountain. The road can’t be pletely smooth. When we fall down from the peak,we may get hert ,we may get disappointed,we may feel despair. But if you want to survive, you must stand up to face it.
It is obvious that 《Gone with the wind》 is really a good book, even if a long time has passed away,it is still suitable for today’s society. It is of great importance to change ourselves, change our value even our thoughts when our life chages.
On the other hand,I think there is no real perfect in the world.Everybody has his shortings. It is necessary for us to learn to forgive others’ faults. If we keep good-tempered,Ibelieve there will be more edy and less tragedy.
