Our college is situated in the northen suburbs. But the transportation is convenient and the environment is pleasing. A hill lies in the back of the college campus. Not far as-ay her. re the campus is a great lake, where we often go swimming on Sundays.
There are fimr classroom buildings and five dining-halls on the campus. The classrooms are big and bright. And each of them is large enough for sixty students to study in. Behind the main classroom building stands the college library, where both the teachers and students are busy borrowing and returning books every day. I usually go there once a week for borrowing and returning books.
Our college life is rich and interesting. On the one hand, we have many experienced teachers, sufficient books, scientific apparatus, and instruments to help our studies. On the other hand, we are encouraged to take part in many college activities such as seminars, parties, talks, sportsmeets, visiting factories, etc. Basketball and volleyball matches are held almost weekly.
All in all, studying in our college is a great privilege, so students always remember their Alma Mater after their graduation.

Should Graduates Spend Much on Job Hunting?
Nowadays college graduates spend more and more money on job hunting. According to a recent survey, almost every graduate spends some money on finding a job. And clothing, transportation, resumes producing and training expense are the main aspects that cost them a lot of money.
As to this phenomenon, different people have different views. Some say it is necessary for graduates to spend money in producing embellished resumes and buying suitable clothes, which can give interviewers a good impression and increase their chance of success. However, others don’t think so. They argue that the high expenditure can increase their parents’ financial burden since most students have no regular income. Apart from that, the decorated resumes do little help to find a job because most HR managers pay more attention to skills.
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong for graduates to invest some money on job hunting. But they should bear in mind that it is their knowledge, skills as well as experience that matter a lot. So they must have a rational attitude toward what they should buy and how much money they should spend.
Everyone has a lot of dreams. Some people want to be rich, dreaming of becoming millionaires overnight. Others want to be famous, dreaming of suddenly jumping to great fame. I have a lot of dreams, too. When I was a young girl, I dreamed of becoming a scientist like Hua Imogen in future. However, I knew very well that I could not succeed without painstaking efforts. So I studied hard in the middle school and college in order
to attain my goal.
After graduating from, college, I found a job as a teacher. Although I was very busy with teaching, I never gave up my goal. I read a lot of books to get more knowledge. I made experiments to practise and apply what I had learnt from the books. Sometimes, I was so deeply indulged in my research that I forgot my meals and time. Now I have made great progress. Several of my research papers have been published. The methods proposed in my papers have been proven to be valuable for the solution of some problems. I am very happy. The ladder of becoming a scientist is still far ahead, but
I have climbed the first rung anyway.
in the last decades, the development of market oriented economy has brought a large number of newly emerging things into our daily life. yet when it comes to one of these new things lottery, welfare lottery in particular, some people believe that it creates a good social atmosphere while others argue that the opposite is true. there is probably a little bit of truth in both statements. but in recent years, lottery has done a lot to support the view that it does more good than harm.
on one hand, welfare lottery encourages people to do small kindness for the welfare of others as well as for the profit of oneself. when we read the daily newspapers, we are frequently appraised of the "big kindness" performed by well-to-do philanthropists who donate large sums of money for the establishment of schools, libraries, free hospitals for the poor, orphanages, and the like. these, of course, are laudable acts of charity that deserve wide public acclaim. but in my estimation, not all the people have the financial ability to support these "big kindness",and those many minor acts of kindness performed daily in different situations by public minded citizens who receive no recognition or praise from the mass media are equally commendable.similarly, welfare lottery provide the majority of people a chance to perform this kind of small kindness.
on the other hand, in a large city like shanghai, where the general tendency of the people is "to look out only for one's own", the atmosphere is cold and miserable for those unable to keep up with the rapid pace of competitions. by launching a personal campaign such as welfare lottery, we can try to remedy the present situation and to make our society a much better place to live in.
however, every coin has two sides.lottery, inevitably, has some side effects. as to the general criticism that it encourages some people's opportunistic attitudes and makes them unwilling to make a living by finding a job, i believe that the ta system in our society will keep the necessary balance between the poor and the rich, thus maintains the stability and unity of our country.
recognition of a problem is the first step toward its solution. since we are now generally aware of the advantages and disadvantages of lottery, it seems necessary that we improve this scheme to meet the public needs. if we are to succeed as a society in 21st century, a better society atmosphere should be created.

There is no doubt that mother is so great, she is the one who gives us life and takes care of us all the time. Most mothers master the housework, in the long run, they get use to tell their kids things in a garrulous way. This is what kids’ annoyance, they are not patient to hear what their mothers say, while mother’s chatter is a sign of love.
mother’s babbling about the things seems to be every mother’s nature. When you ask someone how the mother talks to him or she, you will get the common answer, that is the mother keeps talking in the unfinished way, the children are so impatient to hear what their mothers say. As for me, when my mother starts to ask me to notice some safe problems, I don’t want to hear it, because she has told me many times before.
While though mother talks in a way that most children don’t like, the mother does this because of love. Every mother loves their children so much, they just want to make sure their children be safe and sound. The children should try to understand their mothers, listen to them all the time, or least act like a mature guy, then they will be less babbling to you.

The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies
The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies

The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies
Each year, millions of Chinese college students sit for qualifying examinations for graduate studies, primarily in Master’s programs. Students prepare for those examinations either through years of arduous self-education or by spending large sums of money attending local training schools. The publishing of examinations-related study materials and the training programs offered, both online and offline, have combined to form a sizable industry.
An alarming fact about this craze is that most students pursue graduate studies not out of their voluntary will. Faced with the harsh reality in the employment market, which is forever looking for graduates with higher degrees, many college graduates find going to graduate schools is a good way to avoid unemployment and to enhance one’s competitiveness in future job hunting.
However, without that voluntary initiative, most students who do enter graduate schools are not motivated. For them, the only thing that ultimately counts is the degree or the diploma which they expect could give them an upper hand against other job hunters. As to the actual substance of their graduate studies, it’s not a big deal for them, as long as it leads to that degree or diploma. It is really pathetic to see that students undertake graduate studies with an ulterior motive—not for the sake of loving what they study, but for the sake of merely landing a job, which in many cases might be unrelated to what they have studied.
The chill truth is that students soon find their anticipations are a mere dream. As so many undergraduates proceed onto graduate studies, the employment situation remains as severe as ever. Instead of bringing about apparent competitive edges, two or three years of additional academic training is simply a waste of time and energy. They need to reflect on this craze and would have been better off distinguishing themselves with outstanding knowledge and skills when they were undergraduates.
